Kondoa Riverbed Digging

These guys were digging in a riverbed in Kondoa district in 2006 (people do this a lot - probably learned 100,000 years ago from elephants).

Girls Hauling Water

Water Walk

It is a mile from the Rofati pump to the photo spot. You see the Maasai woman going on. The woman in the background will also walk another 1/2 mi I think. They are Rofati Lutheran Christians.

Water Walk2

Rofati is quite a tale. They asked me for advice and help in 2002 and I sent them to appropriate help (WaterAid). I come back in 2005 and 2006, nothing changed. They were collecting money enough to pay for maintenance and it should not be in the shape it is in. Now it\'s worse. The town water guys seem to have evaporated the money but no one has done anything about it yet.
