CMDi leaders Rev. David Bliss, retired pastor of the ELCA-Northwestern Ohio Synod and Stuart Smith are the organizers of the trip. Rev. Bliss has the experience of leading 14 trips and Stuart Smith has helped lead 6 trips. This trip is under the sponsorship of Christian Mission for Dodoma, Inc., a 501(c)3 independent charitable organization.
Mission Trip Opportunities
- Attending Dodoma Diocese receptions and functions
- Visiting a congregation of the Diocese and meeting Tanzanian Christians
- Mission work project (TBD)
- Park safari tour (TBD - either in Ruaha National Park west of Iringa or in the North)
- Short resort stays incoming and outgoing
Cost is estimated to be $4,000 (Includes airfare, room and board, safari expenses). There are two groups forming at present. June is in the dry season in Dodoma. Ruaha, less well known than Ngorongoro Crater and other northern parks, is an outstanding wildlife park, but much less crowded than the north in the tourist season.
There will be six mission trip preparation sessions beginning in early 2011 (first session is an informational meeting). These are orientation and informational meetings that help people to get ready.
For reservation or more information please contact Rev. David Bliss or Stu Smith.
In 2009, we had the privilege of attending the consecration of Dodoma Bishop Festo Ngowo. Scheduling conflicts prevented us from organizing a visit in 2010.
